The main part of our work is dedicated to the realization of chips especially designed for you – our customer. We assist you in choosing the appropriate microfluidic design, in adapting your specific design to the fabrication requirements, as well as in choosing the suitable fabrication technology.
Industrial manufacturing methods are at the heart of our business. From prototyping to high volume manufacturing – scaleable processes are of most importance for commercial viability of your device. We offer a large range of standard formats such as microscopy slide, double slide, CD, titerplate etc. for which we have existing mold bases. This allows a rapid turnaround of design variants and saves money – you only have to pay for a mold insert instead of a complete injection molding tool. It also allows for seamless upscaling once a design has proven to work. This is also true for all back-end processes involved such as reagent integration, surface functionalization or assembly.
For low volume prototyping, we offer direct mechanical machining into one of the above mentioned standard format platforms. This has the advantage that fluidic interfaces are already integrated in the device, it has the look-and-feel of a later molded device and consists of the same material, thus providing performance as close to a later product as possible. This is usually not the case if prototypes are made with other methods such as PDMS casting or the use of laser-cut laminates which generates prototypes with fundamentally different properties of a later molded device.
In order to assist you in your design work, the General design guidelines for polymerbased microfluidic devices help you to judge the feasibility of the design features of microfluidic chips.
Fluidic platforms for custom design help you make the proper choice of, for example, proprietary microfluidic chip formats versus standard formats or of the appropriate fluidic interface, also considering cost and functional aspects.
